Windows Desktop Applications
Desktop software lives in a harsher world than the web: no guaranteed internet, thermal printers with opinions, Windows machines of every age, and users who expect the program to just work at the shop counter every single morning. We build for that world because we ship our own products into it.
Most agencies quietly avoid desktop work because the hard parts are invisible: signed installers that Windows SmartScreen trusts, license activation that works offline, receipt printers that need coaxing, local databases that must survive power cuts mid-transaction. We run two commercial Windows products — Clikox, a POS and inventory system sold to retailers in the UAE, Mexico and the US, and Invoex, an invoicing suite — so these problems are our daily bread, not a research project on your budget.
Offline-first is the default, not a feature. Your data lives in a local database that keeps working when the connection does not, and anything cloud-based — license checks, backups, sync — degrades gracefully. For a retail counter or a warehouse floor, this is the difference between software and a liability.
Licensing deserves its own mention, because if you plan to sell your desktop software, copy protection is where revenue leaks. We build the same tamper-resistant systems we use commercially: trials that survive clock rollback, one-time activation keys validated online or fully offline, and separate editions for different sales channels. It is the licensing architecture behind our own products, battle-tested by real customers trying to get around it.
Delivery includes what handover really means for desktop software: the signed installer, an auto-update channel so you can ship fixes without emailing files, source code, and documentation. All of it against a written checklist, paid through escrow — you install and run the software on your own machines before any funds release.

Will the software work completely offline?
Yes — that is the default architecture, not an option. The database lives on the machine, every feature works without internet, and cloud extras like backups or license checks simply wait for a connection. Our own POS customers run entire shops through internet outages without noticing.
Which Windows versions will it support?
Windows 10 and 11 out of the box, which covers the overwhelming majority of business machines today. If you have older hardware on the shop floor, tell us — supporting it is usually possible and better discussed before the build than after.
Can it print to thermal receipt printers?
Yes, and we know this corner well — receipt printing is where desktop projects usually stall. Clikox prints VAT-compliant receipts in the hypermarket format across common thermal printers, and we bring that same printing layer to client projects, including barcode label printing.
I want to sell my software. Can you build licensing and copy protection?
This is genuinely our specialty. We build tamper-resistant trials, one-time activation keys with online or fully offline validation, and multiple editions for different storefronts — the exact licensing architecture our own commercial products use against real-world cracking attempts. Nothing is uncrackable, but we make piracy more expensive than buying.
How do updates reach users after launch?
Through a built-in auto-update channel: you approve a release, and installed copies fetch it automatically. No emailing installers, no users stuck on old versions. We also sign every installer so Windows SmartScreen and antivirus software treat your product as trustworthy.
Can you migrate our data from Excel or our old system?
Almost always. We write import tools that pull your products, customers and history from spreadsheets or legacy databases, and we validate the results with you before go-live — because the fastest way to kill adoption of new software is making people re-type five years of records.
What does a desktop application cost and how long does it take?
A focused tool — invoicing, job tracking, a bespoke calculator for your trade — often lands in the low-to-mid four figures over 4–8 weeks. A full POS-class system with printing, licensing and multi-user roles is a larger, milestone-based project. Either way the quote is fixed, the checklist is written, and payment is escrow-protected.
